Northwoods Winter Wedding

After a beautiful morning drive through the northwoods on February 22nd, we started our day off at The Waters of Minocqua. As soon as we walked into the hotel room, we knew we were with a fun group of people based off of the music that was playing. We grabbed a couple pictures of the ladies getting ready and then a couple of the men.

Marquis had given each of his groomsmen watches that were inscribed on the backs. It was an amazing touch to this wedding.

We got to photograph and film a lot of new things with this wedding, the first being the beautiful letters that Sara and Marquis wrote to one another (stay tuned to the video coming a little later to hear some of those letters).

It was also our first time doing these adorable bridesmaid pictures in the hotel room, and champagne popping pictures. I’m not going to lie, we were both terrified to capture the champagne pictures, because you only get one chance with them, but these were so much fun!! Please everyone do champagne popping pictures, now!

We are so in love with these photos!

Check out Sara’s beautiful wedding dress from Miss Ruby Boutique in Milwaukee Wisconsin! Everyone got dressed and made the finishing touches!

After capturing some getting ready photos of the men, we headed to the ceremony location at St. Germain. This church had some of the best lighting we have seen yet, which made for beautiful pictures. On top of the beautiful pictures, this was one of the most touching ceremonies we’ve seen. We definitely teared up along with Marquise when Sara came down the isle.

This ceremony had us crying, then laughing, then crying, and then laughing again.

I just can't get over how beautiful this church was.

Time to party!

Everyone was great troopers and braved the snow. It was really nice this day (40! In February in Wisconsin! Crazy!)

Check out these gorgeous black bridesmaid dresses! (also, please brides do more jumpsuits. It’s genius).

Winter photos are so beautiful, but you have to be ready to be cold and, if you’re Shelby and taking the pictures, climb into snowbanks.

From there, we made our way to the Whitetail Inn for the reception (after running to Walgreens to get Shelby some new socks after climbing in the snow [boots next time for sure])

The Whitetail had amazing food; I’m going to remember to go there for dinner next time we’re in Minocqua.

After the dinner and some great speeches, the couple had two special presentations. The first was the Love Story video that we made for them before the wedding. It was super fun to watch them separately tell the story of how they fell in love and answer some funny questions about each other.

After that, the Tomahawk Drum Circle played a few songs for the couple. This was probably one of the coolest things we have gotten to see. It was our first time seeing a drum circle, and it’s hard to explain how the music made us feel. I don’t know if I can even begin trying to explain it; just know that it was one of the most special things we’ve experienced at a wedding.

Then the dance started! This group was a great dancing group, which makes doing photo and video so much more fun. And makes our job easy!

Sara and Marquis also did a sparkler send off at the end of the night, which was our first time photographing one. This was also super fun, and the picture and video turned out great.

Congrats to these two again. They had an amazing day and we are so thankful to be apart of it!
